The doctor told me it usually takes 6-12 months for grants to the swelling. Also, how long before it completely healed? Someone had the same kind of operation?

The doctor knows best. I suggest you follow your plan of care management to optimize healing. Staying in a diet that will prevent little salt, edema (swelling). Make physical therapy is indicated in the medical discharge (if allowed). Keep track of appointments. Communicate issues and concerns to the telephone in the office of the surgeon's staff. I wish him a speedy recovery. Murphy
